Analyses Performed in Laramie Laboratory
  • EPA 8260

  •  Volatile organics (VOA)

  •  EPA 8270 Semi-volatile Organic Compounds (Semi-VOA'S)

  •  EPA 625 polynuclear Aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)

  •  EPA 8260, Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl benzene, Xylenes (BTEX)

  •  and many other aromatic and hydrocarbon analysis parameters

The Laramie, Wyoming, location of the corporate headquarters laboratory is centered in the mineral rich area of Wyoming for coal, trona and bentonite clay. The laboratory offers a full suite of analyses for the coal, including Proximate, short prox, ash, Btu, sulfur, HGI, FSI, major elements in ash, mercury in coal and ash, trace elements in coal, reducing and oxidizing ash fusion temperatures, and many other coal and "biomass solid wastes products suitable for combustion" analysis. Soil and overburden analysis parameters include: Ph, conductivity, particle analysis, soluble anions and cations, total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons (TRPH), and many other soil or overburden tests. Laramie also will analyze petroleum and petroleum products for ash content, moisture, sulfur in gasoline and heavier distillate products, viscosity, freezing point, pour point and many other related oil products tests.

Tthe GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry) instrument is located at the Laramie laboratory. The GC/MS is one of the newer additions to the instrumentation in the Laramie location and is a Hewlett Packard 5890, GC/MS system. The quality control is monitored by the routine analysis of in-house QC as well as participation in water supply and water pollution QC sample.

This instrument along with other gas chromatographs (GC) allow the Laramie laboratory to offer environmental analysis in water sludges and soils for as many as 114 separate compounds.

  •

Special procedures are developed for unusual problems, including the identification of unknown contaminates. Most reasonably volatile unknown organic compounds can be identified and quantified by the GC/MS. WAL will provide specially cleaned sample bottles and Tedlar bags for gases upon request.

Contact us for help with selecting the appropriate procedures to use on your samples.
